Thanks for the update. I will not bother calling my dealer on 1 April as intended then. Let's give them a few weeks to sort it out...

So I bet the next time I take my bike for a ride, the SOS warning will turn on permanently again after some kilometers :-(

Well, I'll share my experience: last thursday, as an experiment, I first pushed the SOS button (without making contact with the BMW helpdesk) before I started my bike, and suprisingly the SOS warning light didn't come on the whole day (300km) .

Today I did the same procedure, but now the SOS warning came on for a couple of seconds, but then went out for the whole day .

So I'm going to wait for the new SW update, maybe it will fix itself (knock on wood).

Note: the bike was connected to the optimate 4 the whole time it was parked in my garage.

Well, today the SOS warning came up again in the middle of the ride, and didn't go away :-(

Your solution didn’t work for me. But I have an appointment with BMW in a few days to do the update. They called me to tell it’s available now. Should take around 90 minutes.

Well I doubt they’ll let me drive off with the error still showing
But yeah I hope it eliminates the issue permanently. Only time will tell..

Ja Udo das ist wirklich ärgerlich mit dem System. Wenn es nicht beim Vorführer dabei gewesen wäre, ich denke ich hätte es nicht bestellt. Es scheint einfach nicht wirklich ausgereift zu sein. Für mich sind das auch direkt 160km bis in die NL und zurück.

Ärgerliche Sache. Scheint nicht sooo intelligent zu sein. Anfänglich wünschte ich mir dieses Feature für meine Brummi. Wollte sogar nachrüsten. Aber ich denke, ich lasse es bleiben. Mittlerweile gibt es genügend Hilfsmittel (auch ohne RT), die einen Notruf absetzen könnten. ( Watch z.B.)

So Update wurde heute aufgespielt. Fehler ist jetzt erstmal weg und ich hoffe das bleibt so. Hat summasumarum 75 Minuten gedauert.

Da ich den Fehler bereits im Oktober hatte, wurde damals bereits ein Update gemacht. Dies resultiert laut dem Werkstattmeister der NL in einer kürzeren Updatezeit jetzt.
Im Oktober hatte es in der Tat die ganze Nacht gedauert. Da hatte ich eine GS als Leihmoped. War ganz nett.

Last week my RT received the latest software update which should solve the SOS eCall problem. Yesterday I took the bike for a testride and after a couple of meters the SOS warning light came up again and didn't go away, grrrrr......... So it didn't solve it at all.

Now I want a new telematica module, but for that the mechanic has to remove the fueltank and a lot of bodywork, and that on a new bike!

I'm not happy BMW!!!

Sorry to hear that mate. I didn’t have the problem anymore since I’ve done the update and I hope it stays that way.
Since you just went to the dealer and had an update performed and the error occurred again you should insist that now they need to change the module. Needless to say that this should be at the dealers cost and under warranty.

I'm not worried it won't be covered under warranty, but I hate it when mechanics have to dismantle my new bike. I hope they do it right, fingers crossed.

Update: last thursday my bike got a new telematica module under warranty. Went for a ride today and the SOS light didn't show up, yesss!

So, der Fehler ist urplötzlich am letzten Donnerstag während einer Tagestour im Saarland wieder aufgetaucht. Ich habe Anfang Juli meine 10000er Inspektion und das ganze bereits der Werkstatt gemeldet. Die meinten es gäbe wieder ein Softwareupdate. Aber diesmal habe ich etwas forscher reagiert, da dies bereits das dritte Mal ist. Ich habe deutlich gemacht, dass ich eine richtige Läsung will und er meinte dann, dass die Einheit getauscht würde, wenn es denn notwendig ist.

Ich hoffe, dass dieses Thema dann endlich mal erledigt ist. Ich finde das System an sich ja ne gute Idee, aber es war die Hälfte der Zeit, in der ich die RT bislang hatte gar nicht verfügbar. Dann brauche ich es am Ende besser gar nicht, wenn es einfach nicht funktioniert. Diesen ständigen Fehler im Display zu haben nervt!

Sorry to hear the problem came back, very annoying I might say! Perhaps and probably a new module will solve the problem.

I rode about 2500km after my RT's Telematica Module replacement, and luckily (knock on wood) still no yellow SOS warninglight.

Es ist wieder da seit heute nachdem es im Juli zum dritten Mal behoben wurde (durch Softwareupdate). Ich bin schwer enttäuscht über dieses System und die scheinbar nicht sinnvollen Lösungsversuche der BMW NL. Der Meister der Werkstatt ist auf Rückruf und wenn er denn heute Nachmittag anruft, wird es etwas unangenehmer werden. Ich spiele bereits mit dem Gedanken einer Rückabwicklung, da ich ein einwandfreies Motorrad bei diesem Preis (und auch selbst wenn der Preis niedriger wäre). Es kann nicht sein, das dieses System immer wieder ausfällt und die einzige (temporäre) Lösung ein Sofwareupdate ist.
